The Travel palace (Qian Yi)

Traditional attribution or legend

The Travel palace is about how you move through the world outside your home. It covers trips and moves, and also first impressions, public life and how comfortable you are among strangers.

Qian Yi (遷移) means moving or relocating, and the classic's seventh palace section reads it as the palace of going out: it says which stars suit a person who goes abroad and which suit one who stays home. That makes it a palace of the outer life, in contrast with the Life palace across the chart from it.

The two are best read together. The Life palace is who you are in your own space, and Qian Yi is who you are in the street, the airport, the new office, the party where you know one person. Some people are the same in both. Many are not, and noticing the difference can be a relief.

We use it for travel and relocation, for public reputation, and for how easily you adapt. A bright, lively star might suggest you shine in unfamiliar rooms, while a quieter one might suggest you do your best work once you know the people.

A reflective question: where do you feel most like yourself, and what would it take to bring a little more of that to places where you feel less at ease?

For entertainment and reflection only. Not medical, financial, or legal advice.
